Gutter cleaning is dangerous – there’s no question about it. Getting on ladders is one of the most dangerous things that a homeowner can do when trying to improve the appearance of their home. Is it worth it? In our opinion… not even close!
Hear us out: we obviously are a little biased here. But we practice what we preach! We don’t get on any ladders unless it’s 100% necessary… and it hardly ever is. We can do just about everything we need from the ground.
So, what are the benefits of hiring The Clear Difference to clean your gutters from the ground?
1) There is less risk to you.
When homeowners hire companies to work on their home, there is a bigger risk involved than you might expect. If they fall from a ladder on your property, they could potentially sue you, especially if their insurance policy (or lack thereof) doesn’t cover the injury. There is practically no risk involved when allowing us to use poles to clean your gutters. And if something were to happen for whatever reason, we have a $1,000,000 general liability insurance policy in place.
And don’t even get us started on how silly it is to hire an uninsured worker. If something goes wrong, the contractor can report a claim on your homeowners insurance policy. You are practically assuming the risk for their work and any damage/injury that may occur at your home – which is obviously not a worthwhile risk to take on. Even though you are saving a few bucks each time your gutters are cleaned, the huge increase in risk is truly daunting.
Many gutter cleaners say it is not a big deal, and that they would never sue you if something were to happen. However, once a huge injury takes place (which it inevitably will at some point), they will be looking for a way to make them whole. Wouldn’t you agree that the family would want to find a way to replace the lost income of the worker?
2) There is less risk to your home.
Your home is probably your most valuable asset. Ladders undoubtedly pose a threat to the condition of your home. Even when proper precautions are in place (a ladder stabilizer, surface protector, etc.), the side or roof of your home can still easily be damaged. Cleaning your gutters from the ground has nearly zero possibility of damaging your home.
You can save a small amount of money over the years by clearing your gutter out yourself. However, if you accidentally damage your roof in the process, the cost to fix it will be far greater than the money that you saved by cleaning your gutters yourself.
3) It’ll save you time in your busy schedule.
Cleaning gutters can take a loooooong time. Climb up the ladder… grab some leaves/debris… climb down the ladder… move the ladder… and repeat about 25 times. Unless you for some reason just truly enjoy doing it, it’s a much better use of your time to hire professionals to do the job.
We can knock out most gutter cleaning jobs in Auburn, AL and Opelika, AL within an hour, and you don’t even have to be there if you have other things that need to be done. That’s compared to you doing it yourself, which could easily take 2-3 hours depending on the home. I think we can all agree that our service is a better use of everyone’s time!
4) It’ll probably save you money over time.
Think about it this way. If you clean your gutters yourself 20 times over 5 years, you might save around $2,500. However, if you fall just ONE time of the 20 times that you clean your gutters, your hospital bill will far outweigh your savings over the 5 years.
And you might be considering getting gutter guards, which should allow you to stop needing to get your gutter cleaned, right? In most cases, wrong! We’ve heard so many horror stories of the cost and uselessness of gutter guards, even the ones touted as being of the highest quality. Often times, they cause water to run right over the gutters, leading to water damage in your home. Other times, they still allow most small debris to clog up the gutters, leading to a necessary cleaning. The problem is, cleaning gutters with gutter guards is CRAZY difficult and expensive due to the time involved. Add this increased cleaning cost and the high upfront cost of the guards, and you’ll find a large percentage of homeowners feel duped after installing them. Many agree it’s best for your wallet to simply get your gutters cleaned every quarter instead of spending thousands on guards.
5) We Suck the Debris Up – We Don’t Blow It Out
Many gutter cleaners simply walk across the roof the blow all of the debris out. Very efficient, but imagine how great that would make your property look if there was any mud or wet leaves in the gutters? Your home, driveway, plants, cars, etc. would all be soaked in dirty water! We are trying to make your gutters free of debris, not just move it around to other places. For that reason, we invested in large gutter cleaning vacuums that suck all of the leaves and debris out of your gutters. We then dispose of all of the grime ourselves. One less thing for you to worry about!
