5 Ways That We Clean Windows Safely and Efficiently

Here at The Clear Difference, we like to be upfront about everything. However, we know that other companies are looking for ways to copy our model. For that reason, we just want to talk about the basics of how our service is safe and efficient. These are the things that set us apart from most of the window cleaners that you might know that charge dirt cheap prices and undercut the legitimate companies.

Without further adieu, here is how we clean windows safely and efficiently in Auburn and Opelika, Alabama:

1) We use ladders as few times as possible.

Ladders are dangerous — there’s no question about. We don’t like the idea of homeowners using a ladder to reach 2nd or 3rd story windows, as even WE don’t like the idea of doing so. More local service veterans have died from ladder falls than you would believe. On top of it being dangerous for the ladder climber, it’s also dangerous for the home. We’ve heard from lots of homeowners that have had their property damaged from ladders.

For those reason, we use ladders ONLY when they are 100% necessary… and that’s not very often. For the most part, we simply leave our ladders in the truck. Whenever we truly NEED to use a ladder, we take serious precautions.

2) We use a water purification system and water-fed poles where we see fit.

Equipment is a large differentiator in this industry. Sure, cheap scrubbers and squeegees can get you relatively far. However, that would make ladders necessary on nearly every job. Instead, we invested in a water purification system and water fed poles.

Luckily, Auburn and Opelika both have decent water quality. Many states other than Alabama require both 1) a reverse osmosis system and 2) a de-ionization system. For our area, however, we just need a de-ionized tank.

In simple terms, here’s how it works:

  • All the water we use goes through our de-ionization tank. This takes out all of the impurities (like calcium and other hard minerals).
  • Then, the “pure” water shoots up our carbon fiber poles that reach up to 60 feet in the air.
  • We simply scrub the frames and windows with our brush and bronze attachments, all while spraying “pure” water on the windows. This allows the windows to dry naturally and streak-free without having to use a squeegee or ladder.

Don’t get us wrong though, water-fed poles are not for every job. We love using our top-of-the-line squeegees and scrubbers when possible (one story homes, storefronts, etc.).

3) We use an indoor window cleaning system.

Most of the local window washing companies in Auburn and Opelika bring ladders, scrubbers, and squeegees into their customers’ homes. That’s a huge safety concern, and it very often leads to damage to your home. Plus, this often results in too much water being squeegeed onto the floor/walls. Instead, we use an indoor window cleaning system and spray (minimal) pure water along with a special solution that we’ve found to work best indoors.  We are able to use the same poles that we use outdoors, so we can still reach up to 60 feet indoors if we ever needed to. Those hard to reach spots are nothing for our poles! There are tons of trade secrets that we’ve learned after practicing cleaning indoors and researching/talking with other cleaners… we can’t give those away though 🙂

4) We typically work in two-person teams.

For the most part, we work in two person teams — one does the interior, and one does the exterior. Having two people working together saves lots of time. We don’t like our customers feeling bothered by our service in any way — so a more efficient job will allow us to get our of your hair quicker so that you can get back to your day.

5) We are licensed and insured.

This article is about how we clean windows safely and efficiently, right? Having correct licensure and insurance is PARAMOUNT to running a safe business. We never plan on using it, but we have a $1 million insurance policy in case something were to go wrong. That makes both us (the cleaners) and you (the homeowner or business owner) much safer in the case of an accident. And, unlike most of the local window washing services, we have up-to-date business licensed to operate in Auburn, AL and Opelika, AL.
